Who does the residential program serve?Our program for adult survivors of commercial sexual exploitation who are in recovery from sex trafficking, drug addiction and homelessness. Here are some facts about the women we serve: -The most common shared experience among survivors is unaddressed childhood sexual assault -The average age that they were first trafficked is between 9 and 14 -Average age of drugs and/or alcohol abuse starting at 11 -Up to 75% of our residents meet the federal definition of trafficking -All of the women experienced rape and physical assault, often aggravated by the use of a weapon, while being trafficked or prostituting -All of the women meet the diagnosis for post-traumatic stress disorder and most experience co-occurring illness -Typically, the women are uninsured

What are the qualifications for this program?Applicants should be adults with a past history of prostitution or sex trafficking and drug or alcohol addiction. Applicants should prepare to be committed to the 2 year program, including maintaining sobriety and working on personal growth. Applicants do not need to be located in Kansas City.

Who does not qualify for the program?We cannot accept women who are pregnant or have small children living with them, and we do not accept pets. Women with outstanding warrants are encouraged to take care of them before applying for the program. Veronica's Voice reserves the right to accept or reject applications on a case by case basis.
